At The Pig & Porter we don’t just talk about local, we are local!

Here are just a few of the local purveyors we use ever week.

Kroul Farms

Today Lizzy and Howard’s son John and his wife Kaylene have transformed that farm into a modern marketplace for seasonal produce. They still raise the same traditional Iowa crops and animals as Howard and Lizzy did all those years ago, but have evolved their practices to fit today’s modern, health-conscious consumer. The Kroul family prides themselves on practicing sustainable farming methods, like utilizing cover crops and natural fertilizers. We try to be true stewards of the land!

Big Boy Meats

Big Boy Meats started their venture because everyone should be able to “eat like a farmer.” That is, everyone should enjoy the most fresh, hormone free, antibiotic free, free range, happy animals that we love to raise. From our family to yours, we hope you enjoy Big Boy Meats.

Great River Maple

Our business isn’t just about making delicious certified organic maple syrup and maple cream. It’s about offering you maple syrup of such high quality that you can taste the difference!

Echollective is a farming enterprise located 25 minutes from Iowa City, near Mechanicsville. We are a cluster of farmers, interns, and volunteers cultivating 14 acres with a wide array of vegetables and herbs, and sometimes fruit; we specialize in several heirloom hard-neck garlic varieties.

Iowa Brewing Co

Our mission is to brew great beer for the people of Iowa – and beyond.

We are a production brewery located in Cedar Rapids between the Downtown and New Bohemia districts and our taproom is an easy walk to our city’s cultural and dining attractions. For a bite between beers, we are partnering with area food trucks and we also encourage our guests to bring their favorite foods, preferably enough to share.

Lions Bridge Brewing

Lion Bridge Brewing offers artisan beer produced in small batches. We are always working to develop relationships with restaurants, caterers and other artisans in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City Corridor in order to help foster a community that is constantly striving to be new and innovative. The end goal is to produce delicious, complex, and approachable beers with a focus on community and local collaboration.
